Been so busy with the renovations. Kitchen is finally done! I love this before and after shot. I can’t believe this is our kitchen 🙂 good bye old 80s kitchen!
For my mother in law’s birthday last year we went out for breakfast early one Sunday to Jam in Massapequa. This place usually has a wait but early on a Sunday we got right in. By the time we left there was a wait. I can understand why because this was one of the best breakfasts ever. I still dream about my omelet I had here. It was beyond delicious. I need to go back here one day.
Few summers ago we finally hit up Toku and it was delicious. I love rock shrimp. I also loved my blue martini. My good friend who is like family he had gotten a good job and was moving so he joined us and we also got a bottle of Sake. Funniest thing was after lunch we all walked around which is like the Rodeo Drive of Long island (apart from the hamptons) and it was summer so I was in some skirt, tank top. I was much skinnier back then, so yeah I was dressed to the 9s lol. I remember the 3 of us walking past a construction crew and every single head turned. My friend was like wow man does that bother you? My hubs was like “No I’m happy to have a head turning wife” something to that effect lol. I’m pretty sure that’ll not happen again in this lifetime plus now I’m older and usually in sweats these days lol. This same friend I remember was telling me I want what you guys have, he thought he’d never find the one. I told him be patient! Shortly after he moved, he went on Tinder and found his now fiance, mother of his child 🙂 I couldn’t be happier. I’ll never understand those who get practically mad if someone finally gets what they’ve been searching for. Anyway I’ll never forget Toku, around the block/shopping center stores is Cipollini which is where you go when you want to see the plastic surgery of long island. 🙂
I know Houstons is a chain but it never came off that way, it was a super delicious burger. I mean seriously this thing was amazing. I loved that we had one right by us at the mall and we went there a ton of times. I was sad to hear they were closing and we went for a final meal. When I wrote my review on yelp how sad I was and why were they closing someone was nice enough to explain why. Their lease had ended and they wanted to renew it but the rent was like $20,000 a month? I know it’s a popular mall and things go up but a lot of restaurants are ending up closing because of sky rocketing rent. Da Silvano a very insanely popular NYC restaurant I sadly was never able to eat at, I will definitely never now because he closed it. He complained he opened it and started with $500 rent and all these years later it was like $41,000 (41 years later). It just wasn’t worth it anymore. It was a celeb favorite too with tons of scandals I’ll just post the link. http://nypost.com/2016/12/21/legendary-eatery-da-silvano-closed-forever/ but yeah Houstons wasn’t legendary or anything close to Da Silvano but both have closed for the same reasons. I will miss my burger and if ever in Chicago (I think there is one there) I will have to go eat it. My hubs was nice enough to cut my burger in half for me since it was huge 🙂 The spot is now empty and has been since last year when they closed. The bad thing about NY is as rent and things go higher and higher, most incomes have not gone up. That’s why we, along with many friends, end up living at home with family! We’re lucky my dad is letting us have this house and we’ve basically taken it over as our own. He’s more like a roommate we have now, it’d be different if my parents were actually together too. Besides my bff and a few others, no one I know can afford a home around here.
For my 30th birthday, the actual day of September 18th years ago. I wanted to do something so I thought let’s finally go to Atlantic city. As I looked at hotels I was pretty disappointed. I mean I know it’s not Vegas but it was just not nice lol. Revel had been opened I think a few months at the time and once I saw it, I knew that was the place. I remember the biggest suite was maybe $300? Really cheap considering it was the biggest suite they had. It made me really like AC at the time. We stayed one last time a year later before they closed for good. We also stayed at the Borgata a week before we got married, which was super nice, the Tropicana too (before they redid it of course, so ghetto it was lol) My hubs old job it was easy to just go to AC for a night for like $50-$100 so we’d go a lot even though we both don’t gamble. If they ever open Revel again as any other hotel I suggest anyone go! It was definitely a nice place while it lasted. We don’t take over night trips anymore that much because his new job, and when we do it has to be when my dad is home so he can watch our diabetic dog.
My dad had a gift card for Ruth Chris and there is one in Garden city right by our house so around the holidays we went for a nice lunch here. It was one delicious burger. The bun was a bit big for me so I just hate the bottom bun with lettuce on top which was perfect for me plus hey less fattening! They also were giving cute Christmas bells we took home and hung on our door. I always love a good burger and can’t believe all this time, this place was only 5 minutes away and we had never gone. Pricey but well worth it.
Our wedding photographer was of course amazing. I always knew I didn’t want the standard photo to throw in a frame on the wall. Just not my style! So when I saw she had canvas art we could have made of our wedding photos I knew it was meant to be. We did our photos at Old Westbury Gardens where tons of movies were filmed. Hitch, Cruel intentions, American Gangster, etc. I took this before we redid the living room so the walls are yellow in this photo but our canvas looks amazing either way. No one I know has better photos then us and says so lol. One thing I will always say spend the money on a photographer! If you are going to splurge anywhere, do it for that.
