Revel Atlantic city

For my 30th birthday, the actual day of September 18th years ago. I wanted to do something so I thought let’s finally go to Atlantic city. As I looked at hotels I was pretty disappointed. I mean I know it’s not Vegas but it was just not nice lol. Revel had been opened I think a few months at the time and once I saw it, I knew that was the place. I remember the biggest suite was maybe $300? Really cheap considering it was the biggest suite they had. It made me really like AC at the time. We stayed one last time a year later before they closed for good. We also stayed at the BorgataΒ  a week before we got married, which was super nice, the Tropicana too (before they redid it of course, so ghetto it was lol) My hubs old job it was easy to just go to AC for a night for like $50-$100 so we’d go a lot even though we both don’t gamble. If they ever open Revel again as any other hotel I suggest anyone go! It was definitely a nice place while it lasted.Β  We don’t take over night trips anymore that much because his new job, and when we do it has to be when my dad is home so he can watch our diabetic dog.

Scottsdale/Phoenix Arizona

When my girl moved out to Arizona with her fiance we decided to go visit them plus I always wanted to go. They ended up moving back to NY and breaking up but that was a year later. I wanted to stay at a Kimpton but when I saw a cute house for rent just a few miles from Scottsdale I decided on this house instead. Then my mom decided to come and meet us out there. I loved scottsdale so much, it’s one of the places we are strongly considering moving to when we’re older and retired (like 30 years from now lol) I loved the area, the food, everything. When my mom met up with us we made dinner in the house and I’m blaming that for the horrible food poisoning I got. Seriously I felt like death for 2 whole days. I couldn’t eat, all I did was sleep, drink ginger ale, and it was just the worst. It cut our trip in half and I barely saw my mom. I was definitely happy we had rented a house instead of a hotel room since I slept most of the time and it would have been worse just being in a small room, screaming at my hubs to shut up at 1 in the afternoon lol. Luckily the last day I started feeling better and since we had a red eye flight we hopped in the car and took the drive to go see the grand canyon. I just wish I hadn’t gotten sick and was able to enjoy it more, and show my mom around. I loved the house we rented and it really inspired me to do grey in our own home. I also was introduced to an omelette with goat cheese which is now one of my favorite things πŸ™‚ It’s the little things. It was at this place called the breakfast club which I still remember till this day because of the movie with the same name. Also omg the truffle fries at Zinc Bistro, I loved them so much we went back a 2nd time (very rare). We almost have those same curtains in our bedroom now. This house just proves how much rental houses, hotels, have inspired me for our own home. The grand canyon is something I will never forget and I’m so happy I was able to go see it. This was the first time we used Airbnb too. Usually we use Homeaway or VRBO.

The Soho Grand!

For our anniversary I wanted to stay at the Soho grand but by the time I went to book, it went up considerably in price so I said forget it and we stayed at the Waldorf Astoria before it closed. They had a flash sale and I couldn’t resist so we finally stayed at the Soho grand which is something I’ve wanted to do forever. I love Soho and I’d say it’s my favorite part of the city, most of my favorite restaurants are there or at least by there. I just love it and it’s not touristy like midtown can be. We had a suite and had a great night of hot cocoa, netflix, and hanging in the living room of our suite before bed πŸ™‚ I’d say it was 1000x better than our trip to the city in January. I also loved our room. Seriously we had a bar in our hotel room, an actual bar! I’m hoping to one day stay at the sister hotel the Roxy. We’re also about to reno our kitchen, bathroom, etc so I was happy to go to CB2 for some bathroom things πŸ™‚

West Hollywood, CA

After our wedding since my parents paid for it, we thought we’d take them on a trip to Los Angeles as a thank you. We rented a cute cottage in West Hollywood. My mom ended up not coming because we wouldn’t allow her husband at the time to come (long story). I’m sure she regrets her decision now! Anyway my dad still came and it was a great time. We ate all over LA which though I even lived there years ago for a summer I never really did. Also finally went to Santa Monica! Which again had never done. I’m only sad we never made it over to Malibu even though I’ve been there as a kid I barely remember it. My hubs also didn’t get to see Venice Beach. I loved sitting outside Urth Cafe having hot chocolate being a huge Entourage fan that I am (they were always there on the show). I made sure to look all celeb like putting my sunglasses on and my hair looked amazing lol. I also took a random selfie before heading to Santa Monica, and another picture my hubs took of me in Beverly hills at Villa Blanca which are still two of my favorite pics. The cottage we rented was a huge inspiration for our renovated home, seriously our kitchen will look very similar! Also the best part of our trip was going on the Dearly Departed tour! I love horror and am obsessed with all things like serial killers, murders, deaths, etc so obviously I loved it. Anyway Los Angeles is great if not superficial as hell. I’m happy I got to share one of my favorite places with my hubs.

Brooklyn!

So instead of Boston since I was worried about snow we ended up on a small overnight trip to Brooklyn which is like 40 minutes from us. The new William Vale is even better because they have 50% off if you are from the tri state area! So awesome. Anyway we quickly checked in and got a room on the 20th floor. I loved the hotel and am seriously going back next month. We wanted to eat at this popular place Lilia but they said 2 1/2 hour wait but of course 40 minutes later after we went somewhere else they texted me…. Oh well. Even more reason to back eventually πŸ™‚ I loved walking around Williamsburg which is the part of Brooklyn we were in. All rooms have balconies! Loved our view.

Living room, hallway redone!

A few years ago we had this weird pinkish/maroonish color I hated and thought to cover up with yellow. Not realizing I basically hate the color yellow lol. For the longest time I wanted to do gray but it’s such a pain to paint. Taking everything down, moving everything, etc, blah blah blah. Finally over the summer we went for it and I couldn’t be happier. I love the grey so much I basically want it in every room of the house now. It opened up the space and just looks so much nicer/modern. I also painted our stairs white when they used to be fully brown. My dad had to argue for days why would you paint white just leave it alone? Yeah they look so much better now! We also used to have dark blue on the stairs and the grey really opened that space up compared to that dark blue. ICK. Also updated all the lighting πŸ™‚Β  our wedding canvas art was done by our photographer since I didn’t want just the regular photos on the wall. I’m going to say where we got everything so read on if you want to know! Our curtains and pillows are West Elm. The couch is Macys. All the paint now (not the yellow or blue) are Sherwin Williams Repose gray (best color ever) the lights are from Pottery Barn. The Mirror is from pottery barn, the bar Crate & barrel. The tray is from West elm, both of them. Mercury bottles West elm along with the mercury candle, the other candle is Pier 1 imports. Front door is from home depot. Prada canvas is Oliver Gal art and I got that from Zgallerie. The big Paris book is from Z gallerie also which hides all our remotes, etc. Our sphere is from there too I joke it’s like a weapon that thing πŸ™‚ books amazon. In front of the window is a skull, candles, and globe on a console table from Pottery Barn. Skull & globe z gallerie. Candles & holders Pier 1 imports. Not sure how big this photo is but the 2nd shelf if you can see is customized dog art done of our dogs from etsy (yes I’m that person) next to it is candle holders/vase from west elm. Bottom shelf are the ming boxes from Z gallerie, then our wedding album done by our photographer. If you can see the other table that has a lamp on it, it has a cool retro phone from pottery barn πŸ™‚Β  Inside our wall unit is a purple teapot from CB2 that I had to get (love purple), next to heirloom bottles from z gallerie. The bottom is basically things from all our vacations along with an hour glass from pier 1 imports (how little time oh how clever) I think that’s it. I really need to check out homegoods but I love looking at things in stores and ordering online! It helps so I don’t overdo it all the time lol. To see what I spend etc instead of sitting at a counter oh put this back, etc. Which I’d never do and I’d honestly just spend to much lol. Can’t see it but we have a huge wall unit from Bob’s furniture with a 65″ tv perfect for walking dead on Sundays or super bowl. My hubs loves technology so we also have surround sound and a great HDMI cable. When we put a fireplace on our tv from netflix everyone who saw the photo thought it was a real fireplace lol. I think from cool vacation rentals, to Kimpton hotels, it helped me or inspired me to do our home very similarly. I also don’t like to be to matchy (made up word)
